The doctors gave a dark prognosis: There were few options left to save Matt’s life.\nLittle did the Farrow family know they were about to perform an unprecedented act of love and bravery. <\/p>\n\n

That’s when Matt’s parents decided to go all in and have a third child, in the hopes that he could be their donor.<\/p>\n\n

So it was that in a stroke of luck, Matt’s younger sister Alison Farrow was the perfect donor to save his life.\nWith Alison’s umbilical cord blood, the world’s first-ever stem cell transplant could be performed. <\/p>\n\n

The connection between the siblings became a saving bond, transforming Alison into the first “savior sister” even before that expression was coined.<\/p>\n\n
